| The XS-L1230 is a 12-inch, 4-ohm woofer with a continuous power rating of 150 watts. Features include a blaze-red injection-molded cone, an oversized dust-cap with the Xplod logo, a rubber surround, and a bumped and vented pole piece. Subjective The XS-L1230 packs quite a punch for a sub in this price range. Transients are soft and it's a little heavy in the upper octave of its range, but in the supplied enclosure, it's loud and doesn't require a lot of power to extract its maximum potential. Clean classical and jazz recordings can give the XS-L1230 a bit of trouble, but most rock, rap, and boom tracks seem to benefit from the extra meat around 60 Hz. Overall, the XS-L1230 is a solid package. Objective Impedance measurements on the XS-L1230 reveal a maximum of 15 ohms and a minimum of 4.5 ohms over its usable range. These values occur at 45 Hz and 100 Hz, respectively. Average impedance measured 8 ohms. Out-of-car measurements show a slight rise in response below 100 Hz, followed by a smooth roll-off below system resonance. In-car measurements show a 1-watt sensitivity of 98 dB at 10 Hz, and smooth overall response. The 100 watt trace (top) shows about 5 dB of power compression and a maximum SPL of 116 dB at 42 Hz. |
