| The KilloHurts bandpass box is an entry-level system from Lanzars newest line. The enclosure comes loaded with a single 10-inch subwoofer. The driver features a treated paper pulp cone, foam surround, a vented pole piece and a bumped back plate. The enclosure measures roughly .5 cubic feet on the sealed side, .6 cubic feet on the ported side, and utilizes dual 3-inch ports. The front of the enclosure sports a Plexiglas panel for your woofer-viewing pleasure while the rear of the enclosure is slanted for a better fit in most vehicles. Subjective Response at the very top of its range seemed a bit soft, lacking that sledgehammer-to-the-sternum effect that I enjoy so much. However, it really comes on strong in the 60 Hz range, causing a delightful itch in your nose on a good rap or boom track. Extreme low-frequency signals caused a bit of undue flapping and distortion, but that, my friends, is the nature of a tuned box. Lanzar reports that theyll be offering a step-up bandpass system later this year. If youre looking for an entry-level enclosure, youll want to check this one out. Objective The impedance curve for this system shows a maximum of 16.2 ohms at 20 Hz and a minimum of 5.6 ohms at 84 Hz. Average impedance measured 9.2 ohms. Out-of-car measurements show a rising response below 100 Hz, followed by a steep roll-off below about 60 Hz. In-car measurements show a 1-watt sensitivity of 88 dB at 60 Hz, an overall smooth response, and about 5 dB of power compression in the 7080 Hz range. |
