| The CS210-W3 is a sealed enclosure which houses two JL Audio 10W3-d4 10-inch subwoofers. Each driver features a mineral-filled polypropylene cone, extremely high excursion, and JL Audio's patented Vented Reinforcement Collar (VRC). The box is covered in high-quality dark gray carpeting and the speakers are protected by sleek mesh grills. Connections to the box are made via a 5-way gold binding post with the speakers wired to a 4-ohm final load. Subjective The CS210-W3's subbass output is quite impressive. It may not be the loudest-per-watt on the market, but it certainly seems to be one of the cleanest we've heard at high power levels. The CS210-W3 is definitely a subbass system that would work wiell with a good quality set of mid-bass speakers. Due to its high density and shape, the enclosure would be well served by a set of handles to help move it around. Overall, the CS210-W3 is a striong performer that could easily win a few "What's in the trunk?" wagers. Objective THe impedance curve for this unit shows a maximum of 25 ohms at 52 Hz and a minimum of 4.5 ohms at 20 Hz. Average impedance measured 9.4 ohms. Out-of-car response shows a slight rise in response below 100 Hz, followed by a 12 dB-per-octave roll-off below system resonance. In-car measurements show a 1-watt sensitivity of 98.2 dB at 10 Hz and a relatively flat response. the top trace (300 watts) shows a maximum SPL of 121 dB at 40 Hz and about 2.5 dB of power compression. |
