Audio Art 200.2RXT
by Brian Smith
Description
The 200.2RXT is a two-channel amp featuring RCA or high-level inputs, gold-plated connections, and 1-ohm stability in the stereo mode. Also included is a rather unusual internal crossover and a hard-wired remote that controls low-pass output and variable bass boost.

Performance
Performance from the 200.2RXT was impressive. It beat all of its published power specs by a comfortable margin, especially when driving both channels into 4 ohms, where the actual output was a bit more than double the rating. It also did well driving reactive loads, producing more than 700 watts bridged into a 2-ohm IHF load. Overall, the 200.2RXT seems to be quite a capable performer.

Connections & Adjustments
Connections to the 200.2RXT include 3/8-inch spade receptacles for all power and speaker connections, RCA jacks for amp input and all crossover connections, a modular plug for the high-level inputs, and a remote receptacle. Adjustments include crossover corner frequency, bass boost center frequency, and separate input sensitivity controls for each channel. Low-pass output and bass boost gains are accessed via the remote.

Installation
The 200.2RXT will probably be a bit more involved than the average install due to the amp’s complexity. However, the flexibility offered by this unit is worth a little extra effort. The crossover has no internal connection to the amp’s input — it’s more like an external unit that just happens to share the same chassis. This means you’ll have to have a few short RCA cables (or maybe a custom jumper if you really want to be slick) to use the crossover, but it also means that you can pipe the processed signal anywhere you might desire.

Manual
The manual for this unit covers six amplifiers and it seems reasonably thorough.
