Description
The 150a2 is a two-channel amp rated at 37.5 watts per channel when driving 4-ohm loads. Features include RCA or high-level inputs, high- or low-pass crossover with an 80 Hz cutoff, up to18 dB of bass boost at 45 Hz and, Rockford Fosgate’s distinctive cast aluminum “heat sink from hell”.

Performance
In typical Rockford Fosgate fashion, the 150a2’s published specs are somewhat conservative. Signal-to-noise measured –108 dB, which is about 8 dB better than spec, and the rated power for this unit was lower than the actual available output by as much as 50 percent. Overall, the 150a2 is a pretty slick little package, especially when you consider that it’s smaller than a hard-back dictionary. When was the last time you got 200 watts from a Collegiate Webster’s?

Connections & Adjustments
All connections and adjustments are on one side of this little amp. Adjustments include input sensitivity, bass boost, and crossover function. Connections include gold-plated RCAs, a modular plug for the high-level inputs, and 3/8-inch spade receptacles for all power and speaker connections.

Installation
Small is the word. The 150a2 should be happy in any place with sufficient air flow. In fact, air flow notwithstanding, the 150a2 would probably fit in most glove boxes if it weren’t for those huge end-caps. The end-caps aren’t necessary, but that’s the price you pay for style.

Manual
The manual for the 150a2 covers six amps but seems reasonably comprehensive. It includes several wiring diagrams for different system applications as well as a somewhat better-than-average troubleshooting guide.
