Etak Inc., a worldwide publisher of digital map databases, location-based technology and traveler information services, announced it has licensed its industry-leading, nationwide real-time road traffic information service to ATX Technologies, Inc., the leading independent telematics service provider to the wireless and automotive markets.ATX Technologies currently provides telematics services to automakers Mercedes-Benz, Ford Motor, Lincoln, Jaguar and the Infiniti division of Nissan.
The Etak service, provided in cooperation with Metro Networks, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Westwood One, will add convenient and time-saving real-time traffic reports to the robust ATX system that currently enhances drivers’ peace of mind through applications such as automobile collision warning, mayday services, location-based roadside assistance, navigation and routing, remote door unlock and stolen vehicle recovery.

Etak’s service is the first choice for service providers seeking to provide highly accurate, real-time content for their customers nationwide, coast-to-coast."
Etak’s real-time traffic reporting service, which covers 92 percent of the nation’s urban population in 65 metropolitan areas nationwide, is available in HTML and HDML formats and enables subscribers to receive regional or route-specific traffic information reports for their personal routes through a variety of wireless and wireline devices including pagers, PDAs, cell phones, in-car navigation devices, kiosks and wireless-capable laptop computers. The service is demonstrated on Etak’s traffic Web site.
This timely and detailed real-time traffic information includes a description of the traffic incident, degree of impact on traffic, the location where traffic will be affected including direction of traffic, estimated duration and traffic speeds where available. These reports empower travelers to make more intelligent, informed route decisions. Using a Web site, subscribers can customize the service by indicating the roads they travel and times of day enroute. Individuals can then be notified of or request information about traffic problems on their personal routes.
