Sixth Annual Georgia Motor Fest In Perry, Georgia Another Success
The Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry was packed with automotive enthusiast and hundreds of tricked out vehicles this past weekend as the Georgia Motor Fest made its Sixth annual visit to the spacious facility. Auto enthusiast from 20 states and Canada competed for honors in several different event formats including the SLAP Custom Car & Truck Show, an IASCA-Sanctioned Triple-Point Regional Sound Quality and IdBL event, and a Southeastern Divisional SCCA SOLO II Autocross race. The prestigious event, known to many simply as "Perry", is famous for it's TOP 25 Invitational Round on Sunday for IASCA Sound Quality competitors where cars are judged Olympic-Style by 8 SQ judges and 8 Installation judges.

SLAPshow.com Event Management, which manages the Georgia Motor Fest, took a more laid-back approach to this year’s event, directing the event more towards participants. "Large auto enthusiast events thrive because of the camaraderie among the participants, not because of large exhibits or beauty pageants. Enthusiast just want to hang out with and compete with fellow enthusiast, who share the same interest, whether it’s improving lap times in the SCCA Autocross or achieving higher scores in the IASCA sound-off," states Terry Miller, VP of marketing for SLAPshow.com. Miller, who was unable to attend this year’s event due to an injury earlier in the week, praised his staff of Kim Miller, Calvin Louie, Mike Galligan, Greg Lochhead, Phil Langley, Nick Scott, Stewart Freyberger and the rest of the volunteer judging and scoring staff for pulling off the event in such a flawless manner when handed the job late Wednesday evening.

Nearly 500 participants competed for over $25,000 in prizes donated by event sponsors such as AudioControl, Award Authority, Hybrid Racing Development, Kicker, MB Quart, Memphis Car Audio, MTX, Xtant and the Perry Visitors Bureau.

Mark Eldridge of Stillwater, OK added a fourth Perry crown to his resume and walked away with a new AudioControl Real-Time Analyzer and a pair of $1500 MB Quart home speakers by edging fellow Oklahoma resident Rob Rice of Tulsa in the prestigious Sound Quality Top 25 Round. He also took Best of Show honors for trucks and it’s prize of a MTX truck system and AudioControl equalizer in the SLAP car & truck show. Gary Biggs of Bixby, OK won the SLAP Best of Show for cars and its MTX system prize as well as placing fourth in the sound quality Top 25 Round. In the SPL ranks, Jay Gardner of Oxford, AL took home honors for both the Highest SPL and Largest Winning Margin in addition to winning the Advanced 1-360 IdBL class. David Allen of Hiawassee, GA won the unique Most SPL Per Square Inch award.
