Drag race cars won’t be the only thing thundering the ground at California Speedway, September 2-3 in Fontana, California. The two-day Team CSW Sound Challenge sanctioned by the dB Drag Racing Association will be pitting the best mobile audio systems against one another. Competition Soundworks of Cerritos, California will host Team CSW Sound Challenge. With some of the audio systems producing sound pressure level exceeding 160 decibels (equivalent to at jet plane on takeoff), expect the ground to tremble. Several classes will be contested and all show cars are invited to participate. For those not familiar with dB drag racing, the interior sound level is tested with real time sound pressure analyzers. The test records the peak sound pressure level over a 30-second time span. Spectators are treated to a visual indication of sound level on a light bar that resembles a drag race starting line light system. Obviously, no one is inside of the vehicle while the test is going on.
If knock-out bass is not your thing, there are plenty of other activities at the Team CSW Sound Challenge. Check out the latest mobile electronics manufacturers’ displays featuring DVD players, GPS navigation systems, and TV monitors. Leading mobile electronics manufacturer’s representatives will be on sight to provide tips on how to install lightweight, high performance audio systems in your own vehicle. Event hours are 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
