Xtant Ships Highly Anticipated X Series Subwoofers
Xtant Technologies has announced shipping of its 2001 Consumer Electronics Association Innovations Award-winning four-member family of "X" Series subwoofers.

All new and retailing from $299-$349, the Xtant X Series subwoofers are available in 10-inch and 12-inch single, 4-ohm voice coil versions (X104 and X124) or 10-inch and 12-inch dual, 4-ohm voice coil versions (X1044 and X1244). Each features an exclusive, hexagonal shape, which provides an increase in cone surface area of approximately 10 percent over conventional round woofers. This increase in surface area translates directly to greater sound pressure levels.

The X Series subwoofers were devised for a small, sealed box application and although the mounting flange and cone are hexagonal in shape, the X Series subwoofers' die-cast aluminum basket was designed to fit perfectly into the standard, round enclosure cut-out.

Xtant selected a mica-filler to enhance the damping capabilities of the injection-molded polypropylene cone and to significantly improve the frequency response of the subwoofer. The surround / gasket combination is compression-molded using Nitrile Butadiene Rubber, a compound that combines tremendous damping capabilities with extreme resistance to ultra-violet rays.

Xtant coated the front side of the subwoofers' cone with a layer of aluminum to provide a unique and dynamic machined finish look. This sophisticated look includes an injection-molded polypropylene dust cap with an embossed Xtant logo.

To complete the cosmetic appeal, Xtant also chose a die cast, chrome plated back plate with a de-bossed Xtant logo that provides a look personifying style, refinement, and elegance.
