DEI Completes Acquisition of Clifford
The acquisition of the assets without the liabilities of Clifford Electronics, Inc. by Directed Electronics, Inc. (DEI), became final this morning, the culmination of a complex six-month transaction. Former Clifford employees and sales representatives convened at One Viper Way in Vista along with Directed's national sales force to discuss the next steps in creating the largest and most technologically sophisticated mobile electronics company in the world.

According to Glenn Busse, vice president of sales and marketing: "Our most pressing concern is immediately reaching out to former Clifford and Avital retailers, and getting them up-to-speed with our plans to build and support these established and popular brands. There will soon be an uninterrupted supply of high quality ISO-9001 registered products flowing down the retail pipeline to consumers worldwide." Clifford, like Directed, has a significant vehicle security marketshare in many regions of the world, including Europe, Latin America and the Pacific Rim.

Darrell Issa, president and CEO of Directed, says: "I am elated by the synergies we are uncovering day by day, particularly in the area of technology and intellectual property. For instance, DEI's patented Nuisance Prevention Circuitry and Clifford's patented F.A.C.T. are the two dominant anti-false alarm technologies in the world, and will provide DEI with a significant advantage in the marketplace."

DEI's Mark Rutledge, director of product development, stated: "Consumers can rest assured that their next Clifford or Avital system will be even more reliable and technologically sophisticated."
