When you have a position open and the best is available, you make sure you get your man, and that is exactly what Denver-based Excel Marketing recently did by hiring Team RF member and SPL World Record holder Greg Cobbs. Currently the manager of HiFi Shop in Ogden, Utah and a Team RF member for more than five years, Cobbs will handle regional 12 volt and home audio lines for Excel, including the Utah market for Rockford Fosgate, as of July 9. He is planning to retire from SPL competition at the end of the 2001 season to focus his efforts on Excel and Rockford Fosgate."This is a tremendous opportunity for me and I am proud to represent Rockford Fosgate, who has been very good to me and my career," explains Cobbs, who, backed by 24 Rockford Fosgate Power 1000 amps and 12 Rockford 15-inch Power HX2 woofers, recently pounded out a world record 172.6 dB score in the Extreme 9-12 Class at triple point dB Drag Racing event in Las Vegas, Nev. "Excel is a terrific marketing company and is a great match with Rockford’s product line. I’m looking forward to continuing my relationship with Rockford and starting a new one with Excel."
Brian Carlsness, Rockford Fosgate’s national sales manager, adds, "This is great news for Rockford Fosgate. We’ll be sad to see Greg’s 1995 Chevy AstroVan retire to the SPL Hall of Fame, but Greg has done so much for Rockford and the industry as a whole, it’s good to know he will still be in the Rockford family. We know he will continue to do a great job for us out in the marketplace. Excel is very lucky to have him."
Brian Sandberg, president of Excel Marketing, who has been representing Rockford Fosgate for the past six years, says, "There aren’t many people that you can call an icon in this industry, but Greg Cobbs is one of them. He definitely knows the 12 volt industry and is a very talented individual. We are very pleased and proud to have him on board."
