Kenwood and Sirius Sponsor Mobile Electronics Retailers Association's Mobile Education Tour
Sirius Satellite Radio, and Kenwood USA Corporation recently announced a joint partnership in support of the Mobile Electronics Retailers Association (MERA), an organization dedicated to the education, training and advancement of its members through forums fostering the open exchange of ideas. MERA has been an integral part of the mobile electronics industry for the better part of the last decade and is the leading association among independent mobile electronics specialty retailers.

Sirius and Kenwood will serve jointly as "Industry Benefactors" for MERA's 2001 Mobile Education Tour, providing industry training for mobile electronics retail owners, managers, sales staff and installers in cities around the country beginning later this summer. With more than six hundred members, MERA represents in excess of one thousand retail storefronts across the United States. Recognizing the importance of these specialty retailers, Sirius joined MERA in 1999.

"We are delighted Kenwood and Sirius have joined efforts to sponsor MERA's Mobile Education Tour this year," says Joe Straughan, executive director of MERA. "Through the great support of such leading companies, MERA can continue to grow and enrich the business development of its members, greatly benefiting the tens of thousands of consumers who choose them for their purchases everyday," Straughan adds.

Kenwood's vice president of sales and marketing, Bob Law, comments, "As a manufacturer that has built our business understanding the needs of the independent mobile retailers for decades, we are very proud to promote their growth and development by supporting programs like this."

"We see the independent specialist as playing a leadership role in the consumer launch of our service. We look forward to our participation with the Mobile Education Tour and encourage mobile retailers everywhere to take advantage of this valuable opportunity," states Tom Steckbeck, Sirius' vice president of retail marketing and distribution.
