MTX Audio announced its attempt at doing for car audio what marshmallows did for chocolate ice cream: Make a good thing even better. MTX has begun shipping its 2001 dual subwoofer amplified ThunderForm enclosures, capitalizing on the success of the single sub version which have taken the market by storm in recent years. The announcement was made by MTX brand manager Kelly Wells. The dual subwoofer amplified ThunderForm enclosures include all the features presently available in MTX’s vehicle-specific enclosure line plus a second eight or ten inch sub, depending on the vehicle.
Over 150 variations of the amplified dual-subwoofer ThunderForm enclosures are molded to fit flush within the interior contours of several of the top selling vehicles, filling what is normally "wasted space" with lots of window-rattling bass, minus expensive or messy vehicle interior modifications or the need to install a separate amplifier.
Each ThunderForm enclosure is also available in a range of factory colors to match the vehicle’s interior color scheme.
The amplifier is an on-board 100-watt Class D with a continuously variable 50-200Hz, 18db/Octave crossover. Hi and low-level inputs with an adjustable input sensitivity control and the "Smart Engage" circuit are also included.
The patent-pending "Smart Engage" auto turn-on circuit allows installation of the amplified ThunderForm enclosure without the removal of the head-unit. With this circuit, installers can simply connect the amplifier’s high-level inputs to the factory speaker wires and the amplifier will automatically turn on when music is received.
