There seems to be no stopping Team RF’s Greg Cobbs (Team HiFi) and Kyle Witherspoon…not even their own world records!! At a recent triple point dB Drag Racing event in Las Vegas, Nev., both set new world records, once again raising the bar for excellence that the competition can only dream of reaching. Cobbs pounded out a 172.6 dB score in the Extreme 9-12 Class while Witherspoon, an SPL Champion, broke his own record with a 172.3 dB score in the Extreme 1-2 Class."Cobbs’ 1995 Chevy AstroVan is a powerhouse, utilizing 24 Rockford Fosgate Power 1000 amps and 12 Rockford 15-inch Power HX2 woofers," explains Brian Carlsness, Rockford Fosgate’s national sales manager. "Coming off the heals of being named Team RF’s Competitor of the Year for 2000, Cobbs has backed up, and surpassed, his past performance and has solidified his reputation as the man to beat."
Cobbs, manager of HiFi Shop in Ogden, Utah and a Team RF member for more than five years, says there is unlimited potential with Rockford’s lethal combination of amps and woofers. "I was running incredible numbers last year, but I’m doing even better with the Power HX2 woofers. The increase in power they give me is mind boggling. I told ‘em last year to watch out for me in 2001. Well, here I come. This is going to be a great season."
Witherspoon just keeps getting better and better. He is consistently turning heads and making jaws drop with his eight Rockford Fosgate Power bd1500.1 amps. "The power these new bd amps provide is incredible," Witherspoon explains. "Entering any competition, I know I have a good chance of winning. Honestly, I'm blown away by the power output and reliability of these amps."
Carlsness adds, "Kyle is a tremendous addition to our team and he continues to impress us with his knowledge and competitiveness. His system is awesome and we can hardly wait to see what his next world record is going to be."
