USAC Projects Record 800 Shows For 2001; Casey Named New Northwest Director
Competitors aren't the only ones breaking records this year at United States Autosound Competition (USAC) events. USAC itself is setting new growth records every week.

This year USAC is projecting its busiest year yet. It plans to sanction a record 800 soundoffs around the world. By years end, a USAC event will have taken place in 49 different states and 14 different countries.

More events has meant more USAC competitors. According to USAC president Ralph Randall, the organization now has a record 4,000 members.

"Everything is just kind of clicking for us right now," says Randall. "Everyone is having a great time."

Randall says the USAC home office in Brandon, Miss., has been buzzing lately trying to meet the demand for all the additional events. He said the 19 event directors across the country have also been extremely busy. On a typical weekend there are 15-20 USAC events across the country.

"These directors are really the key for our success," says Randall. "Without them we couldn't exist. We are always looking for talented directors to add to our staff."

Tommy Casey, from Missoula, Mont., is the latest director to come on board for USAC. Casey will be in charge of USAC's Northwest territory. His area will include Idaho, Wyoming, Washington and Oregon.

"I want to give all kids in my area a chance to compete," says Casey, who also owns the car stereo store Everything Electronics in Missoula. "Everyone should have a chance to make it to the USAC World Finals."

The USAC World Finals will be Nov. 17th and 18th in Kansas City's Bartle Hall.

Casey has already gotten off to a fast start in the Northwest. Fourteen shows have already occurred in his territory this year, and he expects a lot more to come.

"I hope to double the amount of shows in our territory next year," says Casey.
