Mobile Electronics Retailers Assn. Selects VAC For First Service Program
The Mobile Electronics Retailers Association (MERA) has chosen VAC Service Corp. to develop and administer an after-warranty service program which is being offered to its members throughout the country.

VAC, the nation’s leading service company, will help MERA’s more than 425 retail members provide extended service protection plans to customers who purchase the mobile multi-media, car audio, electronic security, and navigation systems sold and installed each day at the more than 1,000 store fronts owned by MERA members.

"This is an exciting program for MERA because it will empower our members’ sales staffs who can now offer their customers the peace of mind and freedom from financial outlay afforded by after-warranty service plans. Extended service is an important new way for our retail members to satisfy their customers’ needs and expectations," says Joe Straughan, MERA’s executive director, in announcing the new program with VAC.

Straughan says the comprehensive new program will feature over-the-counter replacement on products below $200 at retail, and repair services on covered products above that figure. Products covered include CD changers and other car audio products, mobile multi-media systems, security and navigation systems, as well as mobile lighting systems and other products.

Jim Tucker, president of VAC Service, notes that, "We are delighted to bring extended service programs to MERA’s retail members. VAC has always staunchly supported the independent retailers of America and we look forward to working closely with MERA on behalf of its expanding member base."

MERA was founded in 1996 to bring professional development programs and a voice to the nation’s mobile electronic specialist retailers. Currently, MERA claims almost 650 members, with 425 of those being retailers fielding from one to as many as 40 stores. Other members include manufacturers, manufacturer rep firms, and service providers like VAC Service Corp. MERA is based at 9202 North Meridian, Suite 200, Indianapolis, IN 46260-1810.

For more information, contact MERA at 800-949-6372.
