Sirius Satellite Radio has announced national and regional alliances for the sales, marketing, and distribution of Sirius Radio receivers. These include the country’s largest consumer electronics retailers, Circuit City and Best Buy, as well as important regional retailers, including Good Guys, Sound Advice, and Tweeter. Sirius is also announcing an alliance with Crutchfield, the leading catalog and online retailer of consumer electronics products, and with Al & Ed’s Autosound and CarToys, two of the nation’s leading mobile electronics chains.Sirius’ retail alliances will enable consumers to purchase Sirius receivers and activate their subscriptions for Sirius’ up to 100 channel audio entertainment service at more than 1100 consumer electronics retail outlet and car audio specialists across the country. Sirius is scheduled to begin broadcasting nationally at the end of this year.
"Circuit City, Best Buy, and our regional partners are just the tip of the iceberg in our national distribution strategy that will make Sirius receivers available to consumers everywhere," states Tom Steckbeck, Sirius executive director, retail marketing and distribution.
Sirius has alliances with a group of leading electronics manufacturers to produce and market car radios capable of receiving Sirius broadcasts. These include Clarion, Pioneer, Alpine, Audiovox, Delphi Delco Electronics, Kenwood, Panasonic, Jensen, Sanyo, and Visteon.
Sirius has already announced relationships that will bring satellite radio to consumers through alliances with the nation’s leading automakers – Ford Motor Company, DaimlerChrysler, and BMW – to exclusively factory-install Sirius receivers in their new vehicles.
