JVC Company of America has announced the expansion of a year-long relationship with the hard rock band, Megadeth to include a promotional partnership with the Maximum Rock Tour. Maximum Rock features Motley Crue, Megadeth, and Anthrax. JVC's Mobile Entertainment Division is very excited about the opportunity to reach 18 to 29 year old males, the biggest buyers of car audio and video products, who are also avid fans of metal and alternative music. Both Megadeth and Motley Crue will release new albums during the tour -- "New Tattoo" from Motley Records on Beyond Music (in stores July 11) and "Capitol Punishment" from Megadeth on Capitol Records. According to Motley Crue lead singer Vince Neil, "Maximum Rock will be unpredictable and dangerous -- just what a rock-n-roll concert should be." Lead singer Dave Mustaine agreed, "I think that 'Maximum Rock' is going to be an appropriate statement for this tour! Megadeth and JVC -- it's the Iron Fist in the Velvet Glove."
The Maximum Rock Tour and JVC Mobile Entertainment have planned a number of exciting activities to jointly promote their products. The Maximum Rock Tour will visit outdoor amphitheaters in 49 markets between late June and early September, 2000. JVC Mobile Entertainment products, including the world's smallest 12 disc CD changer, will be used as prizes in radio promotions, in all markets, in which the bands are performing. These promotions will also tag local JVC and record retailers and give the opportunity for both retailers and radio listeners to see the show and meet the band.
At retail, The Summer Maximum Rock promotion will offer consumers a unique set of added value Maximum Rock packages with purchase of JVC Mobile Entertainment products. For purchases between $149 and $250, consumers will receive a Case Logic 24 CD case and an exclusive Maximum Rock sampler with three performances each from Megadeth, Motley Crue and Anthrax. Those music fans who purchase more than $250 in JVC Mobile Electronics products will be able to build their own 5-CD box set of Motley Crue or Megadeth CDs or choose from over 50 other great rock CDs to build their Maximum Rock 5-CD set.
The relationship between JVC and the Maximum Rock Tour will be jointly promoted in a number of unique ways, including a series of collectible band cards and guitar picks available simply for going to a participating retailer to receive a demonstration of JVC's Mobile Entertainment products. A consumer sweepstakes is also being implemented with one lucky couple receiving the chance to fly to Cabo San Lucas to meet and see Megadeth perform in the fall of 2000.
JVC has a long history of involvement with musical groups including its 17 year sponsorship of the JVC Jazz Festival as well as its JVC Rocks program that sponsored tours by artists like Bonnie Raitt, Eric Clapton, Crosby, Stills, and Nash, and Bruce Hornsby. The relationship with the Maximum Rock Tour takes this long-term commitment to quality audio products and quality music to a new level. This association was negotiated and is managed by International Strategic Marketing Inc. of Longmont, CO.
