Competition Committee Formation and Appointments
At the January 2000 board meeting, the board decided to split up the previous "Rules & Ethics Committee" into two separate committees: The IASCA Rules Development Committee (IRDC) and the IASCA Competition Committee.
The IRDC has already been established and the purpose at this meeting was to appoint three members: one elected by the board and one appointed by the president. The third member of the committee will be voted on by competitor members via the IASCA Web site.
Tom Walker, president of IASCA, appointed Stan Frazier who resigned his seat on the Rules & Development Committee to avoid a conflict.
The Board of Directors appointed James Feltenberger.
By May 30, 2000 a list of prospective candidates will be listed on the IASCA Web site for competitors to vote for the third committee member.
Marketing Communications Report
Todd Goodnight announced that the Sound Challenge newsletter was distributed at Spring Break Nationals and the office agreed to do a mailing to manufacturer/press and competitor members before the end of the month.
During this segment it was decided that IASCA would sponsor a slogan contest to promote the popular IdBL competition format by offering free accommodations at the IASCA World Finals for the winning entry.
The Board also agreed to support a T-shirt contest open to competitors for use on the official IASCA Finals T-shirt. The owner of the winning design will also receive free accommodations at the World Finals in Oklahoma.

To date, affiliates include: Japan, France, Brazil, UK, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Austria, Mexico, Manila Philippines, Republic of Panama, Ireland, Sweden, South Africa, Columbia, Taiwan R.O.C., Australia, Argentina, Trinidad and Italy.

IASCA Finals
Terry Miller has been appointed to coordinate the 2000 World Finals set to take place in Oklahoma City, OK, on October 27-29 at the Myriad Convention Center.
During this segment, the issue of prize money was discussed and it was determined that it is the boards intention to establish a prize fund for this event which is balanced relative to the funds available to IASCA. The organization will still provide the biggest purse of any auto sound competition organization and will be working hard to make the purse as large as is responsibly possible. Specific purse amounts will be announced in the coming months as the costs of the event and the potential booth revenue become more clear. IASCA is also evaluating alternative means for enhancing the prize fund, including event sponsorship, trophy sponsorships, and others.
A measure that will significantly reduce costs for the Finals is the return of single team judging. This was discussed and approved by the board.
Next Meeting
The next IASCA Board Meeting will take place on June 5, 2000 in Oklahoma City, OK. At this time, the board will have an opportunity to view the site of the Finals and the local area.
