XM Radio Announces New Agreement With Tweeter Home Entertainment Group
Tweeter Home Entertainment Group, Inc., and XM Satellite Radio Inc. have announced an agreement to market and sell XM-Ready radios manufactured by leading consumer electronics companies and promote XM's multichannel radio service throughout Tweeter's 84 US locations.

XM Satellite reports that Tweeter stores cater to the mid- to high-end consumer segment of the car stereo and home audio markets with premium brand names and exceptional service. It is an ideal venue for XM Satellite Radio, which is scheduled to launch in mid-2001 and will offer up to 100 channels of digital-quality radio programming beamed via satellite directly to cars, homes and portable radios across the continental US. Under the terms of the agreement, Tweeter will promote XM's next generation of radio, as well as demonstrate receivers and service offerings through interactive XM displays.

"Consumer electronics retail distribution is a core element in XM's strategic marketing plan," states Daniel Murphy, vice president, Retail Sales and Marketing, XM Satellite Radio. "Today's deal with Tweeter demonstrates that the consumer electronics community is embracing XM Satellite Radio as a strong 2001 consumer product line," he adds.

"XM Radio will offer Tweeter customers a broad variety of audio entertainment that is unrivaled by today's AM and FM programming," offers Bernie Sapienza, vice president of Merchandising, Tweeter Home Entertainment Group. "XM's wide selection of digital-quality audio programming will have tremendous appeal to our customers. As a result, we believe XM satellite radio products will create a sustainable sales opportunity for our stores."
