The people have spoken. For the past month, visitors to carsound.com have had the opportunity to vote in the CAR SOUND & PERFORMANCE 2001 CES Best of Show Showdown. The showdown pitted Alpine's BMW M3 demo vehicle against Rockford Fosgate's Nissan Frontier -- both vehicles tied for points in our annual editor's choice CES demo vehicle competition. In an overwhelming victory, Rockford Fosgate's Nissan walked away with an unprecedented 75,612 votes out of a total of 96,512. Alpine's BMW M3 received 20,900 votes. Participants were only allowed to vote once and were instructed by CAR SOUND & PERFORMANCE to keep two things in mind while voting: [1] the car's system and [2] how well the vehicle ties into the company's marketing.
"We want to congratulate Rockford Fosgate and Bryan Schmitt and Jason Digos of RTTI on their Best of Show Showdown win," states Rob Granger, editor, CAR SOUND & PERFORMANCE. "From the vehicle's outrageous paint scheme and detailed custom aluminum work, to its ground-pounding system, the Frontier is an amazing accomplishment."
"It's important to remember that both vehicles got to this point because they truly are 12-volt works of art," continues Granger. "Each systems' attention to detail and overall presentations are impeccable. If you haven't seen either of these vehicles in person, make it a point to get to a show to check them out for yourself."
