First, on Saturday, Brooks tied the knot with his new bride Amanda while standing on the stage in front of his fellow competitors.

"She knows how much I love car audio, and when I mentioned my idea of getting married in South Padre, she was all for it," sates the 25-year-old from Overland Park, KS.

Brooks wouldn't have much time to celebrate, however. The next day he was busy capturing a USAC crown, this one in the SPL Modified 151-300 class.

"I couldn't ask for a more perfect weekend," offers Brooks, after picking up his first place trophy. "Amanda and USAC are my two favorite things."

Others soaking up the sun in South Padre also had a great time, if, not so memorable.

"This was the biggest attendance we've ever had in the seven years of being in South Padre," states USAC president Ralph Randall.

Sound quality expert Wilson Adcock was the overall Best of Show winner which included a gift certificate for four Falken Tires. Falken Tires will be awarded at numerous USAC events throughout the 2001 competition season.
