AudioControl has introduced HAL-40, a new software upgrade designed to make IASCA and USAC competition scoring even easier and more fun.Designed exclusively for the AudioControl's critically acclaimed spectrum analyzer (SA-3055), the HAL-40 now gives users the ability to do Pass-Fail RTA scoring based on the IASCA's new 2001 rules. In addition, the HAL-40 allows the user the ability to hold USAC SPL contests based on their new dB5, head to head format.
The HAL-40 software allows a user to print-out an RTA score based on both of IASCA's new rule formats, Ultimate and Street Competition. The goal of this rule is for a competitor to demonstrate their ability to adjust level settings, equalizers and speaker locations to exhibit the smoothest possible system response as measured by a real time analyzer. The Amateur and Novice Street Competition scoring is a simple "pass-fail," based on if all 30 bands are visible on the RTA screen. For Pro and Ultimate competitors, the additional criteria is that no band-to-band deviation is greater than 6 dB.
The concept behind USAC's new dB5 SPL competition is to reward the competitors with the fastest reaction times and the most consistent systems. The HAL-40 software starts the competition by counting down from 5 to 1 on the screen of AudioControl analyzer. The analyzer then displays "GO," triggering a competitor to generate the highest possible SPL average over a 5-second period. A late start will result in a lower SPL average, while "jumping the gun" and start a system too soon will result in disqualification.
"The SA-3055 with the HAL competition autosound scoring software is the accepted measurement instrument at sanctioned IASCA and USAC contests throughout the world" states AudioControl's Chris Kane. "It was only natural for us to offer the new HAL-40 software to help make the scoring for IASCA and USAC contests even easier. Unlike most software programs, the HAL-40 does not necessitate the purchase of a NEW computer or analyzer."
The new HAL-40 software is now incorporated into all new SA-3055 spectrum analyzers. In addition, AudioControl can upgrade existing SA-3055 analyzers and older SA-3050A analyzers that have an "M" serial number at a cost of $150.00.
