Falken Tire Announces Voluntary Recall Of Two Light Truck Tire Sizes
Falken Tire Corporation has announced that it is voluntarily recalling two light truck tire sizes of the Ohtsu and Falken brands. About 5000 tries of sizes LT235/85R16 10-Ply rated and LT245/75R16 10-Ply rated tires of the Ohtsu high Country A/P and Falken radial A/P brands are involved in the recall, which has been given NHTSA Recall Number 01T-007.

Ohtsu reports that various production weeks from August 20, 2000 through January 13, 2001 were identified by the manufacturer as non-compliant with the tire strength requirements of Federal motor Vehicle Safety Standard 119. If the tires are subjected to impact or heavy load, a tire failure may occur.

Ohtsu has modified the design of all new production tires to fully exceed the strength requirements of FVSS 119. Falken will replace those tires in the recalled group with new product or with another brand at no charge to consumers.

Consumers and servicing tire dealers should call the Falken Recall Office toll-free at 800-222-2886 to determine if their tires are part of the recall and to receive tire replacement instructions.
