CES honors Eclipse by Fujitsu Ten as an Innovations 2001 Design and Engineering Showcase Award recipient for taking in-car audio and visual entertainment steps further through the Eclipse DVD Model 55090. The product was displayed at the Innovation Booth #24143 in the LVCC Silver Pavilion during 2001 CES. CES judges selected Eclipse DVD among various others for its unique features, technical specifications, and a series of other criteria. One of its distinctive qualities is its ability to connect to the cutting-edge digital signal processor (DSP) model 39011, which utilizes the latest advancements in psychoacoustics for the creation of a clear sound field imaging in each seat of a vehicle.
With the advent of DVD, this new level of sonic and visual performance is available to the car entertainment purist. No longer limited to two stereo channels, the 5.1 channel design is ideal for the mobile environment. With this special feature, Eclipse DVD brings the spaciousness and imaging of the concert stage to every seat in your vehicle.
The Eclipse 5.1 channel sound/visual entertainment system uses the latest developments in digital signal processing technology. Theater quality sound is made possible by taking advantage of the psychoacoustic phenomenon known as the "Haas effect' – the first of two sounds coming from different directions heard as a single sound coming from the direction first heard. This is the first time this technology has been applied to in-car audio.
By designing new DSP circuitry, Eclipse incorporated complex psychoacoustic data into in-car audio systems, which can manipulate the timing of the audio signal sent to the speakers. The result is an incredibly lifelike spaciousness and depth of sound imaging for each listener in the vehicle. The Eclipse DVD 5.1 channel car audio system combines front and rear speakers with a front-center and rear subwoofer, creating a level of in-car audio response and sound environment equal to a 20-speaker system.
The Eclipse DVD Source Unit 55090, when combined with Digital Decoder 39011, provides clear channel separation and imaging that is superior to that of any other car DVD system available today.
The Eclipse DVD can also operate hands-free by connecting it to the Eclipse Commander, a revolutionary voice-controlled vehicle integration system that offers hands-free operation for all major functions, including the GPS navigation system.
MSRP for the DVD Source Unit (model 55090) is $1,599.99; MSRP for the DTSTM and Dolby DigitalTM Decoder (model 39011) is $799.99.
