MTX ThunderForce Member Claims New World Record at IASCA, MTX Team ThunderForce Member Upsets Tough Competition During IASCA Finals
MTX Audio has announced that one of its MTX ThunderForce Team members stomped out the competition and claimed a new world record during the recent International Auto Sound Competition (IASCA) Finals.

Scott Harris stole the spotlight with a first-place trophy in his class — advanced 1-360 watts — during the IDBL portion of the IASCA Finals on Oct. 29 in Oklahoma City, OK. Harris achieved a new world record in IDBL by generating a whopping 166.1 dB, using eight MTX Thunder1000D amplifiers.

"It was awesome," Harris says. "That’s the first time I’ve won an IASCA finals event."

Harris’ impressive sound machine, an orange 1988 Honda Civic, was also decked out with two MTX LSX2 crossovers and a Coustic CD527 head unit. A first time SPL competitor, he said the MTX products made all the difference in his vehicle.

"I’ve had so much faith in MTX over the years," Harris says. "The MTX 1000D is the strongest Class ‘D’ amplifier out there, especially in its price-point. The MTX LSX2s are just great crossovers."

A four-year MTX ThunderForce Team member, Harris entered his first car audio competition in 1996, when he earned trophies at the Spring Break Nationals. Harris, a 31-year-old Oxford, AL resident, provides technical support and sells audio products for Direct Distributing, a car and home audio distributor in Birmingham, AL. He has been installing car audio systems since he graduated from high school.

"The most enjoyable part of competing is that, at every show, I get together with a group of friends from all over the country interested in the same thing as me — Car audio," Harris says.

Harris would like to give a big thanks to his wife, Keita, and daughter, Taylor, for their tremendous assistance and support. He also wants to say thanks to his friends on Team SPL Inside and everyone at MTX Audio for their help and support.

In other MTX news, MTX Audio would like to congratulate an MTX Team ThunderForce member who squashed the competition, beating a long-time champion during the recent IASCA Finals.

Tim Woolston staked a first-place victory in the pro 1-150 watt class of the sound quality event, beating the runner-up by a whopping 22 points. Woolston made a name for himself during the IASCA competition on Oct. 28 in Oklahoma City, OK. As the owner of a construction company, a husband and father to three children, he squeezed in time prior to the IASCA Finals to install the audio products in his truck by himself.

"I was ecstatic!" Woolston says. "It wasn’t an easy task beating such talented competitors, many of whom have been champions for a long time. There’s tremendous satisfaction knowing that I worked so hard, and I was recognized and awarded for it."

He stole the show with his classy maroon, 1996 Toyota Tacoma, decked with the powerful MTX 225HO amplifier, the MTX Thunder4200 amplifier, the MTX LSB1 signal processor, and two MTX Thunder8154 subwoofers.

"MTX has the highest quality amplifiers around," Woolston says.

He adds that he has the utmost respect and appreciation for MTX and its supportive employees, called "partners." A two-year member of MTX Team ThunderForce, Woolston said he loves working with his fellow team members and MTX partners, including Scott Roark, Mitek consumer products division president and MTX ThunderForce director Jason Planck.

"The team is my main reason for competing," Woolston says. "Everyone on the team is really supportive, plus Scott (Roark) and Jason (Planck) are super guys and very helpful."

Woolston, has been competing for four years in IASCA key events, juggling a busy work schedule and active family life. In his rare free time, he does car audio installs in his garage.

"My wife helps me a lot," Woolston says. "It’s definitely a juggling act, but my family knows that competing makes me happy."

Woolston, who lives in Atlanta, GA, looks forward to competing in future car audio competitions throughout his local area and the nation.
