CD Radio recently revealed that it is changing its name to Sirius Satellite Radio, inc. The announcement came at a gala party hosted by the company to celebrate the completion of its national broadcast and production studios. A concert by Sting capped the evening, and Sirius Satellite Radio announced that the critically-acclaimed artist has agreed to be a creative consultant to the broadcaster, and will have a regularly scheduled program for the service."The completion of our broadcast studios is a significant milestone in the history of the company," states Sirius chairman and chief executive David Margolese. "We decided this was the time to introduce the name that consumers will come to recognize as the future of audio entertainment. Our collaboration with Sting adds to what will be the highest quality music and entertainment available anywhere in radio."
"CS Radio served us well in the development stages of the company's life, but as we approach the consumer launch of our service, we recognized there was an opportunity to create a stronger, clearer brand name," offers Ira Nahr, Sirius' senior vice president of marketing. "The old name had some confusing and limiting aspects to it. The new name and logo will be enduring, valuable, and distinctive."
