Aftermarket Autosound Maintains Position As "Leader Of The Pack"
|
|
The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) reports that factory sales of aftermarket autosound products continued to soar in September, increasing by more than 2 percent over last September's sales, and bringing the year-to-date factory sales to dealers total to $1.65 billion. This growth represents an 11 percent increase over the first nine months of 1998. As has been the case all year, aftermarket autosound continues to lead all audio categories, due in part to the continued growth in sales of in-dash CD players and car amplifiers, which rose 23 percent and 16 percent, respectively, in September. CEA (formerly CEMA) is a sector of the Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA), the 75-year-old Arlington, Virginia-based trade organization representing all facets of electronics manufacturing. CEA represents more than 500 U.S. manufacturers of audio, video, accessories, mobile electronics, communication, information technology and multimedia products that are sold through consumer channels.
