The IASCA Executive Committee announced that Mike Jaffe has tendered his resignation as executive director. The committee has asked Jaffe to continue on until March 1, 2000 to allow sufficient time to seek a replacement.Jaffe was appointed executive director in 1993 on an interim basis, which eventually led to a full-time position. During his tenure with the competition sanctioning organization, Jaffe has played an important role as IASCA's key spokesman, and has been a facilitator between the board of directors and the membership. He has been a strong advocate for competitors and has been instrumental in many rule changes and procedures that have made a positive impact on the judging process.
"The past seven years have brought me some of the most enjoyable times of my life," comments Jaffe. "Competitors are the lifeblood of this organization and I have had the pleasure of getting to know many of them personally. Looking back, I am proud of what I have achieved, and can comfortably pass on the reins to someone who will lead IASCA well into the next century."
Ron Trout, president of IASCA, says, "Over the past seven years, Mike has worked tirelessly for the organization and its membership. His contribution to the organization has been the foundation which we will build the future upon. We will miss his wit, his candor, and, most importantly, his enthusiasm and hard work."
