DEI JIM Controls all 1999 and Later Grand Cherokees, including Laredo and Limited
|

DEI's Jeep Interface Module, the JIM (455J), is an active databus integration product that can be quickly installed on 1999 and later models of the Jeep Grand Cherokee using a single datawire, power, and ground. A DEI security and convenience system is then plugged into the 455J, providing consumer control of all factory security, door locking, light flash, and horn honking capabilities through the DEI system. The JIM speaks the same language as the Grand Cherokee's J-1850 databus, using digital "words" up to 96 bits long, which tell the Jeep's Body Control Module when to arm and disarm the factory security system, when to lock and unlock doors, etc. This provides advantages for both DEI retailers and their customers. Without the JIM, the installer must remove both door panels and install four relays into the door lock system, plus adding four diodes to the door triggers at the Body Control Module. Not only is this time and labor intensive, but it also requires special care to insure that no damage is done to the panels when removed from the vehicle. "DEI believes that active databus integration is the future of our industry," says Glen Busse, vice president of sales and marketing. "While other manufacturers are waiting for some consortium to deliver the IDB to them, DEI is already 'driving the bus.' The JIM is making money for DEI and our retailers now, and opening up a whole new market segment for the 21st century." For more information, call DEI at 800-876-0800.
