Q-PC Real Car Computing Announces Partners for Convergence 2000
Q-PC, Inc., has announced that in conjunction with TravRoute, it will showcase its Q-PC Real Car Computer in the TravRoute booth at Convergence 2000 in Detroit, MI. The show, sponsored for over 25 years by the Convergence Transportation Electronics Association (CTEA), runs from October 16-18, and its theme this year is "Automotive Electronics: Delivering Technology's Promise."

Q-PC will also be displaying at the IDB Forum booth with Texas Instruments. Q-PC will be the 1394 Firewire gateway and interface with the Texas Instrument’s 1394 chip technology to demonstrate multimedia capability (digital music, movies, and communications). Texas Instruments will be integrating the Q-PC into their demo by streaming two videos onto the Q-PC across 1394 Firewire and will play the video’s on a 6.5-inch Planar Systems LCD screen.

TravRoute provides award-winning navigation and mapping software products, with turn-by-turn directions, real-time mapping, and real-time travel information based on a vehicle’s location. Q-PC and TravRoute have partnered for over a year, as TravRoute’s Co-Pilot 2000 navigation software has been bundled with Q-PC’s integrated and installed Q-PC Real Car Computers for sale through Q-PC’s specialty-aftermarket dealers. Q-PC also plans on using TravRoute software products to be released in the future for their products developed for fleets and other automotive markets.

The IDB Forum actively promotes the global integration of IDB networking into the automotive, consumer electronics, automotive electronics, computer, retail, and consumer markets. The IDB Forum promotes the common business interests of its members and their customers. Activities include technology and market development, demonstration, promotion, and interface to the Automotive Multimedia Interface Collaboration (AMI-C). The scope includes IDB-C, a 250Kbps network based on CAN, and IDB-1394, a high speed multimedia network based on IEEE-1394, being developed in partnership with the 1394 Trade Association.
