Siemens Automotive announced the appointment of John G. Sanderson to the position of president and chief executive officer of Siemens Automotive Corporation, effective immediately. He assumes the authority and responsibility for guiding the US activities of the company, which is a global supplier of automotive electronics.Sanderson takes over from Dr. Franz Wressnigg, who will remain in the position of chairman of the board of Siemens Automotive. Wressnigg will focus on expanding the worldwide operations of Siemens Automotive. Together, Sanderson and Wressnigg will work closely with the worldwide Managing Board of Siemens Automotive to determine and implement company policy for the US marketplace, as well as identify new business opportunities.

"John Sanderson possesses all critical attributes required to lead our US operations into the future."
Previously, Sanderson served as vice president and general manager leading the company’s global product development, manufacturing and engineering for Siemens Automotive’s Powertrain Gasoline Systems Division, in addition to serving as head of the Fuel Components Division’s day-to-day operations.
Prior to his service as vice president and general manager of Gasoline Systems, Sanderson served as vice president and account executive for two global key accounts, to Ford Motor Company in 1995, and two years later accepting the leadership of the General Motors worldwide sales team. In this role, Sanderson defined and set global strategic business initiatives, which included aligning the various Siemens business units in order to drive the business growth and initiatives with these strategic customers.
Sanderson holds a BS and an MBA from Old Dominion University (Norfolk, VA). Sanderson also completed five years of military service with the United States Navy.
