GOTTA HAVE IT
Mintek Digital believes that everyone should be able to put a DVD player in their car. They offer a line of affordable portable DVD players in the $150 to $500 price range. If you want to add video, and don’t have a large budget, Mintek is a brand you should consider for your ride.
Mintek’s line of portable DVD players includes:
MDP-1010 10.2-inch TFT Widescreen Monitor Portable DVD — The latest addition to the Mintek line, the 10.2-inch 16:9 TFT monitor offers the widest viewing angle available — nearly 180 degrees, representing a +118 percent improvement over a conventional 7-inch screen — and weighs in at a mere 1.68 pounds. Features include two built-in speakers, an anti-shock system, S-video and two-channel audio inputs, AV input/output, a headphone jack, an optical output, a high capacity rechargeable lithium battery, a multifunction remote control, and an automobile power adapter. MSRP is $499.
MDP-1810 8-inch TFT Widescreen Monitor Portable DVD — One of the newest models in the full-featured line of Mintek Digital players, the MDP-1810 8-inch TFT Widescreen Monitor Portable DVD weighs in at a slight 1.83 pounds and features an 8-inch 16:9 widescreen monitor, built-in stereo speakers, and a built-in anti-shock system. The MSRP is $349.
MDP-1720 7-inch TFT Widescreen Monitor Portable DVD — Offering a slim profile that’s less than 1-inch-deep, the MDP-1720 7-inch TFT Widescreen Monitor Portable DVD is the slimmest portable on the market, the company says. With built-in stereo speakers and an anti-shock system, this model is available at an SRP of $249.
MDP-1770 7-inch TFT Widescreen Monitor Portable DVD — Offering the same features as the MDP-1720 in a slightly larger footprint, the MDP-1720 7-inch TFT Widescreen Monitor Portable DVD weighs less than two pounds. The SRP is $229.00.
MDP-5861 5-inch TFT Widescreen Monitor Portable DVD — Mintek Digital’s smallest unit, the MDP-5861 5-inch TFT Widescreen Monitor Portable DVD packs all the same features as the larger models, including built-in speakers, into a 1.28-pound unit that’s perfect for lightweight travel. It’s priced under $200.
All Mintek Digital portable DVD players include AV outputs and cables, an optical output, high capacity rechargeable lithium battery, multifunction remote control, and an automobile power adapter.
CAR SOUND & PERFORMANCE located Bill Daugherty, Marketing Manager, Mintek Digital Inc. for the lowdown on the company’s Portable DVD Line.
What is it? It’s my best traveling companion — it doesn’t take up much room, it hooks up to my car easily with the auto adapter, and it never asks me, “are we there yet?”
Where can I find it? At most major electronics retailers and major department stores that offer the highest quality personal electronics at the most reasonable prices. Retailers include Best Buy, Costco, Macy’s, Kohl’s, and May Company.
What’s really cool about it? The coolest thing is the reasonable price. It wasn’t long ago that portable DVD players cost over $1000. I also love the AV input/output. Believe it or not, my grandchildren do eventually get tired of watching movies. That’s when we whip out the video game hardware and use the Mintek portable player as a monitor. Ten big inches of video game combat —right in my back seat! We’re becoming true Road Warriors.
What to tell your girlfriend(s)... Honestly, sweetheart, I was watching the end of the movie in my car on the portable DVD player. That’s why I’m late!
Where can I find out more about it? Visit www.mintekdigital.com or search the Web for reviews — they’re all good!
