You’re driving in your car and you hear a song you like playing on Sirius Satellite Radio. You press the preset button and save the station so you can come back to it any time you want, but there’s no guarantee that when you check back they’ll be playing that song.

You’re still driving. You hear a song that you sort of like. It isn’t one of your favorites, but you don’t mind it, and you don’t feel like changing the channel when you don’t know that you’ll find a better song. You listen to the song all of the way through, and the next song sucks, so you change the channel — just in time to hear the very end of the song you consider to be the greatest song of all time.

You get mad. You hit the steering wheel. You curse your radio. You drive to your local car audio store to look for a better receiver. You tell the salesperson your story. He shows you the new Audiovox SIRPNP3 Satellite Radio Shuttle Reciever.

Key features of the system include a memory capture function called S-Seek that can store user-favorite songs. When you hear a song you like, you push a memory button and capture it. You can do this with 24 songs. The SRS will constantly search all incoming Sirius channels for those songs and if that song comes on again, the unit alerts you that it’s playing and prompts you (with a beep) to switch to it if you want. The Shuttle also features 30 presets with Preset Scan (more than any system on the market today, according to Audiovox), listing and search-ahead capabilities by channel name, artist name, song title, category, and favorites. The unit also includes a selectable LCD screen with multiple display options, and easy-to-use Scroll/Tune control for quick access to the more-than 100 Sirius channels. Additional features include a built in digitl FM transmitter, which allows easy connection to any vehicle with an FM radio, as well a clock with alarm and sleep timer functions, program select, and an automatic dimmer. MSRP is $99.99.

What is it?
It’s the latest in the Audiovox Sirius Satellite Radio series, featuring a slim-line profile.

Where can I find it?
It’s launching in September at major retailers.

What’s really cool about it?
The unit is 25 percent smaller than current Audiovox models. It has a dedicated jump button for direct access to and from the last tuned channel. Features a memory capture function to store up to 24 favorite songs. When activated, memory capture will search all incoming Sirius channels for those songs. It also features a digital FM transmitter built into the receiver with frequency choices throughout the entire FM band.

What to tell your girlfriend(s)...
Now she can listen to her favorite music categories without commercial interruption and without listening to you moan about station fade-out. (Alternate choice: “Buy it for me!”).
